My blog has been getting nailed with spam from China. I am not sure what they are doing over there, but it is annoying. I did some poking around for a quick captcha device that easily fits into the existing product. Normal controls I would use for this had trouble integrating with BlogEngine.Net because it uses a custom ajax style submission. Rather than spending time on implementing my own fix I searched around and found Al Bsharah's blog where he mentioned he was also getting a ton of spam as well. He linked to a post on Code Capers that had a custom adaption to the spam filter in BlogEngine.NET. Here is the link to the solution.
It was easy to implement and seems to work well. I will let everyone know if the spam stops. I was up to 40 comments a day. So hopefully that goes away now.
Here is a description of the original captcha implemented by BlogEngine.NET and the issues it poses.
